This opening is for a 2ND SHIFT Maintenance Mechanic,, 2 p.m.- 11 p.m. most days, depending upon production. Hours can vary. (Saturday and Sunday are rare.)
The Maintenance Mechanic position conducts machine setup, troubleshooting, repairs, and preventive maintenance service. Perform computer-generated maintenance work requiring maintenance skills to keep machines, mechanical equipment, and the structure of the establishment in repair. Ensures that food safety, legality, and quality standards are always maintained. This position may travel between our two nearby plants in Carrollton, TX.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Complete computer-generated maintenance work order requests requiring maintenance skills to keep machines, mechanical equipment and the structure of the establishment in repair.
- Work from drawings and computer-generated work assignments.
- Perform preventive maintenance on all production equipment and plant physical equipment.
- Work with other maintenance personnel to complete assignments promptly
- Access and interpret maintenance computer information.
- Know vendor locations and purchasing procedures.
- Maintain a clean work area while working.
- Actively offer methods of improvement.
- Generate, maintain,n and close work requests using computer maintenance software.
- Processing equipment is ready for on-time production start-ups.
- Maintain the facility at inspection-ready status per MSS, AIB, and FDA
- Adhere to safety policies, procedures, and regulations; ensure the safety record meets safety goals.
- Actively participate in team and business improvement activities
- Maintain and keep records.
- Maintain the department in inspection ready status at all times.
- Partner adheres to all GMP, safety, and Illes policies and procedures and verifies that they are followed.

Minimum Job Requirements:
EDUCATION:
A high school diploma or equivalent is required. An associate’s or bachelor’s degree in a related field (Mechanical or electrical) from an appropriately accredited University is a plus.
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of two years of experience in the field or a related area. Familiarity with a variety of the field’s concepts, practices, and procedures.
TECHNICAL SKILLS:
- Programmable Logic Controls (PLC) knowledge a plus.
- Welding – Stainless Steel and other metals

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to lift 50 pounds continuously.
- Ability to handle 55-gallon drums after training.
- Ability to lift 100 pounds with assistance.
- Ability to stand continuously.
- Bend, stoop, climb, reach above the shoulder, crouch, and push and pull frequently.
- Use feet, hands, wrists, arms, and shoulders constantly.
- Work while standing on a 10-foot stepladder with rails.
- Temperature variation of 55 to 110 degrees.
- Ability to work above the shoulders.
- Ability to sit for extended periods of time, use keyboard and calculator, see, hear, read, learn, and speak.
